Dr. Shanmughasundaram B

Dr. B. Shanmugasundaram is currently serving as Professor of Agricultural Extension and Head of the Division of Social Science at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Pattambi. His areas of specialization include extension education, participatory technology development, sustainable rice production, farmer empowerment, entrepreneurship development, and climate-resilient agriculture. He has played a major role in promoting the System of Rice Intensification (SRI), farmer participatory research, and technology dissemination programmes in Kerala. Dr. Shanmugasundaram has successfully handled several nationally funded projects as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator, supported by ICAR, MANAGE, ICSSR, RKVY, and the Government of Kerala, focusing on sustainable agriculture, organic farming, entrepreneurship development, technology dissemination, and farmers’ livelihood improvement. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Young Scientist Award, Best Extension Professional Award, and Society of Extension Education Fellow Award, for his outstanding contributions to agricultural extension and community mobilization. He has also represented India at international conferences in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand on sustainable agriculture, rice production, and post-tsunami agricultural rehabilitation.
