Ms. Faseela K. V. is currently serving as Assistant Professor (Plant Breeding and Genetics) at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Pattambi. She has expertise in plant breeding, seed technology, and molecular biology, with a strong focus on developing climate-resilient and high-yielding rice varieties through the integration of conventional and molecular breeding approaches.
As Principal Investigator, she leads research on breeding for high straw and grain yield, multiple resistance, drought tolerance, mutation breeding, and development of new plant types. Her research has led to the development of two high-yielding, non-lodging, long-duration climate-resilient rice varieties—KAU Supriya (PTB 61) and KAU Akshaya (PTB 62).
Her research also focuses on metabolomic analysis of traditional rice varieties, identification of therapeutic compounds, and development of SNP databases and genomic resources for nutraceutical traits, along with contributions to whole genome sequencing published in the NCBI database. She is actively involved in germplasm conservation, hybrid rice development, multi-locational trials, and plant variety protection under PPVFRA, while also contributing to farmer training and large-scale quality seed production.
